Crazy-easy raw applesauce

Sometimes kids, even teenagers (!), like the simplest, healthiest things when it's easily accessible - and preferably served to them with a flourish ;)  Whether as a snack or as dessert, I wouldn't have believed this would be so popular, but it was. So easy, and with different toppings you can mix it up a bit too.

All you need is a food processor and some apples, plus any toppings you might want. Preferably use organic apples so that you can keep the skins on for extra fibre and nutrients.

Cut apples into chunks, and process until desired consistency (watch you don't process it too long unless you like mush) - approx. 2 apples per person

Spoon into dishes and add your desired toppings. What's great here is that you can tailor to individual preferences easily, for example my boys love cinnamon - lots of it! (as you can see in the picture) - where I prefer just a little sprinkle.

Possible toppings:

  • cinnamon
  • allspice
  • slivered almonds
  • goji berries
  • pomegranate seeds (my favourite, though it takes a bit more work)
  • use your imagination!

Serve right away, before the apples start to brown.
