Homemade Chocolate Pudding

Craving something sweet and yummy?  This is so easy to make, with a satisfying taste and familiar consistency.

Did you know it's a natural mechanism for us to search out sweet foods, and that some of us really do have more of a measurable craving for sweetness than others?  That's an ancient drive to forage for berries and ripe fruits in the warm season so that we obtain the energy and rich nutrients which they contain.  The problem is the modern food industry has capitalized on this drive to keep us craving more and more so that, simply, we keep buying their products.

I freely admit that I love dessert - more than I really "should" and I don't want to go without them!  This is one that the whole family likes, and it's much healthier than the packaged alternative.

Using a food processor, mix:

  • 2 avocados
  • 3 Tablespoons cocoa/cacao powder
  • approx 6 Tablespoons maple syrup (adjust to taste) - it should go without saying, but use real, good quality maple syrup!  The darker the syrup, the more minerals it still contains, so choose dark over light varieties.

Spoon into serving dishes and refrigerate.

Add whatever toppings you like, such as fresh berries, goji berries, or shredded unsweetened coconut.
